Established in 1998, Von Der Earnhardt kennels is located in the beautiful and picturesque state of North Carolina. Throughout the years we have taken great pride in following a very simple and fundamental philosophy: to breed healthy, energetic dogs of sound temperament and structure that are versatile enough to function both as a valued member of the family as well as a valued member of the working dog community. Whenever we contemplate a potential breeding of two dogs, we evaluate and analyze a variety of factors before making a final decision on whether the breeding should take place. While it is very true that pedigrees play a vital role in determining the genetic makeup of a particular animal, it is not the only factor that should be taken into account when considering a potential breeding. We strongly believe in thoroughly evaluating the individual dog, along with its strengths as well as its weaknesses, in order to accurately determine what potential attributes could be brought to the forefront by a successful breeding of two animals.
We believe that no two dogs are alike in demeanor and drive. Every dog is unique in its own right and as such has its own, yet undetermined path to greatness, success and most importantly happiness within its eventual pack structure. To maximize this potential, we strongly believe in early developmental imprinting and socialization of young puppies through constant exposure to a multitude of external stimuli. This begins when the puppies are just a few days old. The first reason this is done is to help prepare and desensitize the puppies to the many environmental hurdles and obstacles that they will have to overcome during their lifetime. The second reason is to better evaluate each puppy’s aptitude and abilities during their most crucial developmental period in order to determine the most suitable home for a particular puppy. Correctly selecting the right puppy for a particular home is a very thought out and detailed process. Successfully doing so enables both the owner and puppy to develop a closer and more intense bond between one another without the unnecessary and unwanted stress of impractical expectations.
We feel that this simple philosophy has helped our breeding program continue to produce beautiful, healthy, stable and well balanced dogs that will excel in a variety of the working and sport dog venues.
